Mayor Chuck Shaheen spoke to the members this morning outlining some of his initatives. He mentions the need to think of the area as Robins Regional since the base impacts so much of the area’s economy. Over one-half a million people live within 30 square miles of Robins Air Force Base. He also said that Warner Robins have been built by the small businesses in the area. He sees the need for a strong recreation and parks department and some type of transit service. He has met with the mayors of Centerville and Perry and wants to work together. He and the city were instrumental in saving the Davis Post Office from closing as least for a year.
