The June 18 joint meeting of the MGDWC and the Houston County Democratic Committee hosted Miriam Paris, a candidate for the Senate District 26 and Representative Stacey Abrams, (District 84) and the Georgia House Minority Leader. When the business meeting concluded, club members and Democratic supporters enjoyed an old-fashioned candidate rally with candidates, hot dogs and music by DJ Terry. It was a chance for our local candidates to be showcased as well as state candidates. Each candidate was allotted 6 minutes to showcase their positions. We have some strong Democratic candidates. They were Darryl Hicks, candidate for Commissioner of Labor; Carol [...] We have a new location for the September 18 meeting of the club. Fenika Miller has graciously offered her campaign headquarters at 102 N. Davis Drive for our meeting. We will offer a continental breakfast for a fee starting at 9:30 a.m. with the meeting to start at 10:00 a.m. Our member candidates will [...] We have another great opportunity to hear candidates up close and personal at the September 11 Multi-County Luncheon sponsored by the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women. The star studded line-up includes Darryl Hicks, candidate for labor commissioner, Joe Martin, candidate for state school superintendent, Carol Porter, candidate for lieutenant governor, and Keith Moffet, candidate [...] Jason Ashford Jason Ashford provided information about the “paperless” Houston County district attorney’s office. The website offers information on victim assistance, case access to all the cases in the database, verdicts and sentencing of criminals and information on many legal topics. I am wageing this campaign, because for years I have watched our representatives as they have placed their priorities above the needs of the people whom they are elected to serve.
